The 2013 vintage in Castiglion del Bosco

A year characterized by a harsh and rainy climate which continued from winter to spring and early summer, with cool days and a good presence of water. Since the end of August, the hottest days have uniformed the maturation and the excellent temperature variations have guaranteed excellent polyphenolic evolutions. The harvest began on September 18th for the grapes from the lower vineyards and ended on October 7th in the higher ones.

Vinification and refinement:

The harvest took place by hand in 15-kg boxes, the qualitative excellence of the grapes, allowed prolonged maceration, beyond the fermentation times. The wine was aged in selected French oak barriques for 36 months. Alcohol content: 14.5%.

Organoleptic notes

Zodiaco Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2013 is a wine with a strong personality which, in a fresh and complete vintage, enhances the character of a great territory. The color is bright and the nose is broad and complete, with dense fruity notes, expanded by citrus and mineral aromas. Acidic freshness and a dense tannic texture accompany this wine of great character, in an elegant and persistent finish.

“In the painting I created for the limited edition Zodiaco Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Year of the Mouse, the grapes represent abundance. The mouse, with its gaze turned upwards, represents hope for a better future, while the grape he holds in his hand symbolizes the security of already possessing a treasure in his hands.” Aaron Gan
