All our vintages of Prima Pietra have the same blend of grape varietals: 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. The 2020 is the first vintage with the new blend that includes only the first three mentioned.
The tasting will start with the youngest vintage of our Prima Pietra 2020: clear and lively in the glass. The nose is broad and persistent with notes of red berries with delicate spicy notes and a pleasant balsamic finish. In the mouth it is complex, with great extractive richness, rich in soft, thick but velvety tannins.
The following vintage of Prima Pietra 2019: a bright and lively color brings back to the nose a wide and persistent aroma, with crunchy and deep fragrances of red berry fruits, refreshed by a pleasant balsamic finish. In the mouth it is refined, elegant and complex, silky on the palate with a great persistence. Velvety, structured and balanced tannins.
Last, but not least, the Prima Pietra 2016 in an amazing vintage: described by the wine maker as A perfect year. The seasonal trend was quite regular, but as an exception for the area surrounding the harvest at Prima Pietra was postponed thanks to the cool September and the excellent temperature that led to a slow but complete ripening. Prima Pietra 2016 has great varietal expressions, excellent structures and an incredible balance.
