Rosso di Montalcino L’America 2020
L’America was the name with which the vintners, going down from Podere Capanna to the woods, called this place where in the past, already in the 50s, there was a small vineyard and a shelter for animals. Being at boundaries of the estate, the name America evoked remoteness and great ambition.
THE ROSSO DI MONTALCINO L’AMERICA is today the youngest wine in terms of immediacy and vision, characterized by acidic freshness and ease of drinking. The plot is located at 300 meters above sea level, in a terrain with good presence of skeleton, rich and deep. Protected from the winds, it maintains the scents deriving from the woods and benefits from a mitigated insolation that preserves low pH, excellent acidity, bright colors and tannic content
The 2020 vintage
The 2020 harvest at Castiglion del Bosco was characterized by a dry winter, with below-average rainfall, but we recovered widely in May, which was quite cool and rainy. This helped the plants in their first vegetative phase. This year’s harvest is distinguished by a particularly hot and dry.
The first precipitation arrived at the end of August, which was essential to start evaluating and observing the ripening of the grapes. From this moment, however, the temperatures did not drop and there was not enough thermal excursion between day and night to hold back the ripening process.

This wine comes from a selection of the best grapes grown in the vineyard of the same name, located in the northern part of the estate, which acquires greater complexity and body in this new expression.
