CAMPO DEL DRAGO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2016 99+ POINTS

“The 2016 vintage was excellent for this winery owned by Chiara and Massimo Ferragamo. Cru of Vigneto Capanna, crunchy fruit in this Brunello showing an intense nose. Nuances of alcohol-infused fruit, licorice and fresh pepper leaf. Juicy and ample mouth with a great persistence.” Luca Gardini

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2016 96+ POINTS

“Again, cru of Vigneto Capanna and schistose soils that produce an intense Brunello on the nose. Nuances of small dark fruits, blackberries and blackcurrant dominating, licorice and officinal notes of fresh bay leaf. The mouth is both juicy and dense. Great persistence.” Luca Gardini

We want to share with you our wine maker Cecilia Leoneschi’s comments on the 2016 vintage at Castiglion del Bosco.

The 2016 harvest at Castiglion del Bosco was characterized by a very good balance in the maturation of the Sangiovese, this should lead to rich and very elegant wines. The veraison was evenly, synonymous with great homogeneity. The grapes presented a slight delay in the maturation which was later confirmed by the collection date. The clusters maturity were quite sparse and with resistant skins, a result of a good work effort throughout the year. 2016 is a vintage that will reward high located and well exposed vineyards gaining an excellent polyphenolic maturation. Excellent acidity, could be a vintage to long aging in the bottle.” – Cecilia Leoneschi, October 2016.
